The feeling of opinion among the medical profession and skiing/snowboarding affiliations is that wearing ski helmets shouldn't be made compulsory. Responding to the recent tragic situations on the ski slopes some ski and snowboard hardware rental corporations have been started to market the use of helmets. Plenty include a free ski or snowboarding helmet in any rental package a customer purchases from them. Also some ski tour operators are offering a free ski helmet with vacation bookings to attempt to promote responsible and safe skiing and riding. Ski and snowboard shops have also noticed a marked increase in the quantity of ski helmet sales following these high profile events.
